He Is Enough

I had another life lesson this week, and in the strangest way.  It is
amazing how God will show you something in the "ordinary".  It really
was a blessing.

I had an abundance of blueberries, and I was going to make a blueberry
buckle for Sunday school.  The still small voice of God nudged me to
make an extra one for someone at church - I thought, okaaaaay...but I
went with it, because I know that Voice, and I may not understand, but
I don't have to understand, I just need to be obedient.

So I made the extra cake, and added a note that explained what
happened during the making.

I do a lot of baking and cooking, and I usually have an abundance of
ingredients.  As I was making the cakes, I noticed I was almost out of
flour.  Okay, I just looked in the pantry for more.  Well, I didn't
have any more.  Now I was confused - I had enough for one cake, but
probably not for two.  Nudge nudge.  I went ahead and doubled the
recipe ... and when it came time to measure the flour, I had exactly
enough.  Not a teaspoon too much, or too little.

It turns out the person that received the second cake needed that
encouragement that very day - she was at the end of herself, and just
felt too exhausted to make a dessert for the family she cooked for
each week.  Because of a lot of stressors in her life, she needed that
reminder, too - that God is enough.  That we may have just enough, but
it will be enough.  No matter what it looks like.

It says in  Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV):

9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength
is made perfect in weakness.”

Psalm 23:1 States "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."

Habakkuk 3:16-19 (NLV) assures us of this:

16 I heard and my body shook. My lips shook at the sound. My bones
began to waste away and my legs shook. Yet I will be quiet and wait
for the day of trouble to come upon the people who fight against us.
17 Even if the fig tree does not grow figs and there is no fruit on
the vines, even if the olives do not grow and the fields give no food,
even if there are no sheep within the fence and no cattle in the
cattle-building, 18 yet I will have joy in the Lord. I will be glad in
the God Who saves me. 19 The Lord God is my strength. He has made my
feet like the feet of a deer, and He makes me walk on high places.

He is enough.  No matter what.  He will provide.  No matter what it
looks like.  He will show us the way.  Even when we can't see the way.

Trust Him.  I know - trust is a HUGE issue for those of us that have
been betrayed. But it is a very essential step for our mental health.
Start by trusting Him - the all sufficient GOD!

People are asking for things to do when the have nothing to do.
Therefore, I have come up with some alternatives:

*Pack yourself some healthy yummy things and a lot of water and a
blanket, and go sit on the beach, or at a park, and eat outside.
Bring a book.  Or take a 30min (at least) walk.

*Go to one of the local blueberry farms and pick some delicious
blueberries - for cheap!  They cost $4-5 a PINT, or $1.75 a POUND.
They are great for snacking, baking, smoothies, freezing.  AND good
for you.  And I had a great time out there, as per previous email.

*Take a walk!  Just right out the door.  Take time to look at your
surroundings, listen to the summer noises.  Breathe.  Relax!  Let the
cares of the day fall away.

*Browse YouVersion on your cell phone and pick a devotional to do.
Some of them are only a week long - and you can read the entire Bible
if you want.  This is a free app.

*Phone a friend - have them join you in one of the above activities!

Bottom line - get out and do something! You'll be glad you did!

Have a blessed week - we are praying for you!
